You can make a motion graphics video with Claude AI by giving it one short prompt and letting it write the film as code. I built mine with Claude Opus 5.5. It is not an AI-generated video and not a generated image. Claude writes every scene, every animation and the sound, then HyperFrames renders it into an MP4. The full prompt is below, ready to copy.

I made a short film called Old Light this way. Every visual, every word and the whole soundtrack came out of code. Some people online are joking that motion designers are “cooked” or about to lose their jobs. After watching what Opus 5.5 did with a single prompt, I understand why they joke. I also think the real story is more interesting than the joke, and I get into that near the end.

Key takeaways

  • Claude Opus 5.5 can build a 1920×1080 motion graphics film with sound from one prompt.
  • The video is code (HTML, animation and audio), not a generated clip, so every frame is precise and editable.
  • You need Claude, the HyperFrames skill, and the prompt below. No After Effects.

What is the “Old Light” video?

Old Light is a short motion graphics film about one idea: the light hitting your eyes right now was born inside the Sun. It spent about 170,000 years bouncing around inside the Sun before escaping, then crossed roughly 150 million km of space in about 8 minutes. On the way it turned the sky blue, got split into a rainbow by a raindrop, and finally ended in your eye.

Claude picked that topic itself. I did not give it a story, a script or a style. The prompt only asked for something original, with a message told through a few lines of text, and each scene as its own world.

Is it AI video or is it code?

It is code. This is the part most people get wrong when they see the result. Tools like Sora, Veo or Kling generate pixels from a text description. Claude did something different here: it wrote a program that draws and animates every frame, and a second layer that generates the sound.

That matters for three reasons:

  • Precision: text is always sharp and spelled correctly, because it is real type, not a guess by an image model.
  • Editable: want a different colour, word or timing? Change one line and render again.
  • Repeatable: the same project can be re-rendered in any size, such as vertical for Reels and Shorts.

What is HyperFrames?

HyperFrames is a framework that turns HTML, CSS and JavaScript animation into rendered video. Because Claude is very good at writing web code, it can “direct” a whole film through it: layout, typography, motion, timing and sound all live in the project files. Think of it as After Effects that Claude operates by typing instead of clicking.

Why Claude Opus 5.5?

This kind of film asks a model to plan a concept, write a lot of animation code, keep timing consistent across scenes and build sound, all in one run. I used Opus 5.5, Anthropic’s most capable model at the time of writing, because the prompt asks it to think deeply and polish the result. A smaller model may work for simple clips, but for a showcase piece I would pick the strongest one available.

The exact prompt I used

This is the full prompt, unedited. Copy it, paste it into Claude Opus 5.5, and change nothing on your first run.

Snippet
Create an original motion graphics film with sound, horizontal 1920×1080.

Come up with your own topic and concept: something fresh, with a message told through a few lines of text. Make every scene its own world, and make each one stunning.

This is a showcase piece, so treat it as the best work you have ever made. Think deeply before you start, take your time, and don't hold back on ambition, craft or detail. Polish it until you would be proud to put your name on it.

Surprise me.

If you would rather steer it, here is the short version to use when you already have a HyperFrames project open:

Snippet
Claude, build this one like that. Make an original motion graphics film with sound, 1920×1080, built purely with code and HyperFrames. It must not be a generated video or image. Pick your own topic, tell it in a few lines of text, give every scene its own world, and surprise me.

How to make your own, step by step

  1. Open Claude Opus 5.5 in a coding environment where it can create files and run commands (Claude Code in VS Code works).
  2. Make sure the HyperFrames skill is available. This is what lets Claude know how to build and render the video format.
  3. Paste the prompt above as your first message.
  4. Let it think and build. It plans the concept, writes the scenes, and builds the soundtrack. Do not interrupt early.
  5. Preview, then render. Ask Claude to open a preview and render the final MP4.
  6. Refine in plain English. Say things like “make scene three slower” or “change the colour of the last scene”. Claude edits the code and re-renders.

Your result will be different from mine, because the prompt says “come up with your own topic”. That is the point. Every run is a new film.

Are motion designers really “cooked”?

No, but the job is changing. A film like this used to take a designer days of keyframes, sound sourcing and exports. Now the first draft takes one prompt. What is left is the part machines are worse at: taste, direction and knowing what is worth saying. In my case, the value I added was choosing what to keep, what to change and what to post.

If you are a motion designer, the practical move is to learn to direct tools like this. If you run a brand, it means short branded films are now cheap to try.

Frequently asked questions

Which Claude model made this video?

Claude Opus 5.5. It planned the concept, wrote the animation code and built the soundtrack from a single prompt.

Is this an AI-generated video?

No. Claude writes code that draws and animates every frame and generates the sound. HyperFrames then renders that code into an MP4. Nothing is generated by a video model.

Do I need After Effects or coding skills?

No. You paste a prompt and describe changes in plain English. Claude writes and edits the code for you.

What size is the video?

The prompt asks for 1920×1080, which is standard horizontal HD. Ask Claude to re-render at 1080×1920 for Reels and Shorts.

Will my video look like yours?

No. The prompt tells Claude to invent its own topic and concept, so each run produces a different film.

Does the video include sound?

Yes. The prompt asks for a motion graphics film with sound, and Claude builds the soundtrack as part of the project.
